    Resilience is Better than Perfect

Why building your resilience will make book marketing easier and reduce the time spent being stuck to getting into action and solving a challenge.

    Resilience is Better than Perfect

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.’’ - Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

    Experimentation and Persistence:

If you run a problem, if you fret and get stuck in the moment, it is much harder to figure out a solution. Sometimes, the solution is creative and comes from being outside of the problem, using curiosity and ingenuity to get to a result.

Being willing to experiment, giving yourself permission to fail can lead to a better outcome than you may have first imagined.

When Thomas Edison was trying to create a viable electric light, he is famously known to have "failed" more than 500 times before he got the light bulb to work. Had he given up after a few tries, he would certainly have failed.

Persistence gets you where you want to go. Keep at something and the parts of the process that don't work will fall away until you have the solution. You may need a fresh pair of eyes to look at what you are doing to see what is keeping you stuck.

    Ask for Help

Once upon a Time I was afraid to ask for help. I thought I had to figure everything out by myself and being in control of everything that could possibly be considered my business. That type of thinking kept me playing small and in reality, I was procrastinating. I wasn't making progress when I kept myself stuck.

I'm not saying to give up all control what I am saying as I've decided to grow my business and increase my impact I have discovered I need help and that I should only be doing the things that I can do and if there are tasks and systems that require the expertise of others I am in better hands turning over those activities to people better suited to doing them. If you're like me and you have a lot of talents, it may be difficult at first to let go and move on to having collaborators and supporters helping put all the pieces together for you. There may be elements of your business that you want to hang onto and do so but if you are losing track of what's important, and what your zone of genius reveals about you and how you help your clients, get over yourself already. You're helping fewer people if you are lost in the weeds of doing something that you are not the best suited to accomplish. And if you are avoiding your higher calling, you are doing a disservice to yourself and the people you can help in the world.

Don't Be Attached to How, Be Attached to Results

Calling customer service or searching for answers? Are usually opt for calling customer service when at all possible because I want to spend the least amount of time stuck and spending more of my time getting things done. And that means getting the right things done.

I met with one of my vendors today because I was confused about how to move forward with the software and I gave it a good try but I realized I could invest lots more hours and still not figure it out and with her help we got a lot done in about a half an hour. I put aside my sense of I should be able to do this by myself and recognized it was better to ask for help than to continue to be frustrated and waste my time.

Let's Look at How You Can Improve Your Resilience

Resilience isn't being perfect it's being able to access ideas and get creative when confronted with a problem. When you're more resilient you will be stronger and feel more confident and capable. In the December 8 Masterclass we will be looking at how to cultivate resilience for building a life and business of your dreams. Resilience is one of my superpowers and flows through my life as a strong cable system. I'll share lessons about the power of resilience learned from my journey with ovarian cancer, being an author, and running my business.
